Guide to an Easy 6-Step Skin Care Routine
Margaret RustauskySkincare does not have to be complicated to feel special. At Essentials Everything, I love helping you build a routine that makes room for your skin and a little everyday care.
This six-step guide brings together products from our collection, with options you can adapt to your needs. You do not need every product or every step. Gentle cleansing, comfortable moisture, and daytime sun protection are the foundation; the extras are yours to choose.
Step 1: Cleanse Gently
Start by washing away everyday buildup with a cleanser that suits your skin.
- Rose Glen Facial Cleanser combines rose hydrosol, glycerin, aloe vera gel, and cleansing ingredients with a floral, earthy scent.
- Lavender Cleanse is another rinse-off option for removing everyday impurities and excess surface oil, with lavender, tea tree, and myrrh oils contributing its scent.
Follow your chosen cleanser’s directions, massage gently, rinse with lukewarm water, and avoid scrubbing. Choose according to your skin’s tolerance, not scent alone.
For makeup removal, Divine Cleanse Facial Cleansing Oil is an optional first step. Massage as directed and gently wipe clean with a comfortably warm, damp cloth. Follow with a rinse-off cleanser if that approach suits your skin. Double cleansing is optional, not a requirement.
Optional Mask Moment: Rose Facial Clay Mask
On days when you would like an extra self-care step, explore our Rose Facial Clay Mask. Use it after cleansing and before your optional toner, serum, and moisturizer. Follow the mask’s directions for application, timing, removal, and frequency rather than treating it as a required daily step.
Review the ingredients and choose according to your skin’s tolerance. Skip the mask if your skin is irritated, and stop using it if it causes discomfort. After removing it as directed, continue with the moisturizing steps that suit your skin.
Step 2: Add a Toner, If You Enjoy One
Our Rose Essential and Lavender Calm facial toners offer optional ways to add a refreshing moment after cleansing. Review each product’s ingredients and follow its directions.
A toner is not necessary for a complete routine and does not replace moisturizer. Skip this step if it causes stinging, dryness, or discomfort. You do not need a toner to “close” pores.
Step 3: Add a Few Drops of Serum
If you enjoy an extra conditioning step, explore our Vitamin C Facial Serum. Its botanical oil blend, shea butter, and beeswax help soften dry-feeling skin and retain moisture for a dewy-looking finish.
Following the product directions, apply 1–2 drops to the face and neck after cleansing or your optional toner, avoiding the eye area, then follow with moisturizer. This step is optional; use it because the texture and finish suit you, not because everyone needs a serum.
Step 4: Moisturize Your Face and Neck
Wildflower Facial Cream combines lavender hydrosol, safflower and meadowfoam oils, glycerin, bakuchiol, and niacinamide in a facial moisturizing formula.
Following the product directions, apply a small layer to your face and neck after cleansing and any optional toner or serum, then massage gently. Use morning and night if the formula feels comfortable for your skin. Review the full ingredient list, especially if you are sensitive to lavender or fragrance.
Our Vitamin C serum contains beeswax, so it is not vegan.
Step 5: Give the Eye Area Optional Extra Care
If the skin around your eyes feels dry, EE Cream Eye Contour Cream offers a dedicated moisturizing option. Safflower and evening primrose oils help condition, while glycerin and sodium hyaluronate contribute hydration.
Follow the product’s application directions, gently dabbing a thin layer around the eye contour without pulling the skin or getting cream in your eyes. Eye cream is optional, and it should not be expected to erase wrinkles or treat an eye condition.
Step 6: Finish with Daytime Sun Protection
For your morning routine, finish with a separate broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher when heading outdoors. Follow its label for application and reapplication, and use shade and sun-protective clothing too.
The Essentials Everything products featured in this guide are not substitutes for sunscreen. Botanical oils and Vitamin C serum do not provide a labeled SPF. At night, skip sunscreen and let moisturizing be your final step.
Make the Routine Work for You
Morning: Cleanse as needed, add optional toner or serum, moisturize, use optional eye cream, and finish with sunscreen for outdoor time.
Evening: Remove makeup if needed, cleanse gently, add any optional steps you enjoy, and moisturize. No sunscreen is needed for bedtime.
Start with a few products and introduce new ones gradually. Natural ingredients and essential oils can still irritate some people, so review complete ingredient lists and stop using anything that causes discomfort. Fragrance-free options may be more comfortable for sensitive skin.
If you use prescribed skincare, follow your clinician’s advice about where it fits. Persistent irritation, painful breakouts, or an ongoing rash deserve professional guidance rather than more products.
A Small Moment That Belongs to You
Your routine does not have to look like anyone else’s. Keep what feels useful, leave out what does not, and give your skin time and patience.
Here is to gentle habits, thoughtful choices, and a little care at the beginning or end of your day.
With love,
Margaret
