Skincare at Every Age: A Naturally Nourishing Daily Routine
Margaret RustauskyLet’s face it, every day we all get older. That’s a fact of life, and it’s certainly better than the alternative!
In my mid-forties, I began noticing changes in my skin: a few more lines, a little less bounce, and a greater need for moisture. It inspired me to think more carefully about my daily routine and the products I enjoyed using.
Those lines also tell our stories: smiling, laughing, and living. Caring for our skin does not have to mean fighting every sign of age. A thoughtful routine can help skin feel soft, comfortable, and well cared for while we embrace each new chapter.
So, what can we do?
At Essentials Everything, I love bringing nature-based ingredients into an enjoyable skincare routine. Start with cleansing and moisturizing, then choose optional toners, serums, and eye care according to your needs. You don’t need to use every product at once to create your own little at-home ritual.
Start with the Day’s Makeup and Buildup
Whether or not you wear makeup, cleansing is a useful first step before the rest of your evening routine. Choose a cleanser that suits your skin, massage gently, rinse thoroughly, and pat dry rather than scrubbing.
Is Double-Cleansing Right for You?
Double-cleansing means using an oil-based cleanser followed by another cleanser. It may be useful when removing makeup or a day’s buildup, but it isn’t necessary for everyone. Let your skin’s comfort guide you rather than assuming more cleansing is always better.
Devine Cleanse is the oil-based cleanser option featured in this routine. Follow its directions when using it as your first cleansing step.
Rose Glen is another facial cleanser option. If you use it after Devine Cleanse, rinse thoroughly and gently pat your skin dry. There is no need to finish with cold water to “close” your pores.
Lavender Cleanse is offered for oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin types. Its listed formula includes lavender hydrosol, aloe vera, glycerin, and botanical oils. Massage onto damp skin on the face and neck, then rinse thoroughly. Its lavender scent adds a botanical touch, although scented products may not suit every sensitive skin type.
Cleansing prepares a clean surface for the products you choose next. It should not be treated as a proven way to reverse aging or make other products penetrate more deeply.
Now We Tone That Beautiful, Clean Skin
If you enjoy a toner, this is where it fits. Toners are optional and can add a refreshing feel after cleansing; they don’t permanently close pores or form a shield against environmental impurities.

Lavender Calm and Rose Essential are two botanical toner options to explore. Choose according to your ingredient preferences and how your skin responds, rather than assuming a natural product is suitable for every sensitivity.
Follow your toner’s directions and apply gently. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing with a cotton pad.
Serums for an Extra Layer of Care
A serum can be a lovely addition when you want extra conditioning. Choose one that fits your routine rather than layering several simply because they are available. Follow each product’s directions and avoid the eye area unless the product is specifically intended for it.

Hippie Hemp is a serum option for dry-feeling skin, adding a nourishing step to your routine.
Summer Nights is another serum option to explore for your evening skincare ritual.
Vitamin C Facial Serum features a botanical oil blend that helps soften dry-feeling skin and retain moisture for a dewy-looking finish. Research on specific vitamin C ingredients does not establish collagen-building or dark-spot benefits for this finished blend.
Then We Moisturize to Look and Feel Fantastic
Moisturizing helps leave skin feeling soft, smooth, and supple. Choose a formula and texture you enjoy, and massage gently without pulling or tugging. No special massage direction is needed to “fight gravity.”

Honey Cream combines aloe vera hydrosol, honey, meadowfoam oil, and evening primrose oil to help moisturize and soften dry-feeling skin. Its nourishing role is everyday moisture, not treatment for a skin condition.
Mystic Cloud is an everyday facial moisturizer option for a fresh, cared-for finish. Explore its ingredients and directions to see how it fits your morning or evening routine.
Wildflower is offered for oily and acne-prone skin. Check the individual product listing when deciding whether its formula suits your needs, and avoid expecting a moisturizer to treat acne or other conditions.
Papaya Glow is a lightweight facial moisturizer with a refreshing papaya scent. Its blend includes papaya extract, grapeseed oil, argan, shea butter, sea buckthorn, and aloe hydrosol to help leave skin feeling soft, smooth, and moisturized with a fresh-looking finish.
To use Papaya Glow, apply a thin layer to the face and neck after cleansing, then gently massage. Use morning and night. The presence of papaya extract does not by itself establish an exfoliating effect or a dark-spot treatment benefit.
A Gentle Approach to Eye Care
If you enjoy a separate eye-care step, keep it gentle and follow the product’s directions. A moisturizing product can help with a dry-feeling eye area, but under-eye concerns can have different causes, and no cream should promise to make bags or wrinkles disappear.

EE Contour Cream is the eye-care option in this routine. Follow its application directions and keep it out of the eyes.
Don’t Forget Daytime Sun Protection
Your cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer are not substitutes for sunscreen. Include a suitable sunscreen in your daytime routine and follow its application and reapplication directions.
Finally, Make a Little Time for Yourself
My friend, a few peaceful minutes of skincare can feel like your own mini-facial. Choose the steps you enjoy, introduce new products gradually, and keep your routine comfortable. If a product causes irritation, stop using it. Persistent skin concerns deserve individual advice from a dermatologist.
Let your skincare plan be about caring for yourself today, not wishing away the years that brought you here. A little consistency and a routine you love can make everyday care feel special.
To Health & Happiness,
Margaret ♥️
